Hassrale Trips: Ingatestone

Date: Friday 5th October 1990

Another Friday evening trip out of London. Ingatestone is half an hour out of Liverpool Street and all 4 pubs are in the High Street. I recommend the 17:32 from Liverpool Street arriving at Ingatestone at 17:58. There is also a train at 17:52. The first pub is furthest away from the station. The times indicated in the brackets are the approximate times of leaving each pub.

Pubs

1. Anchor, High Street [19:00]

Beers: Greene King IPA, Abbot

Comments: Rather noisy public bar. Quiet saloon bar.

2. Star, High Street [20:00]

Beers: Greene King IPA, Abbot

Comment: Grays pub. Pool room in old renovated bakehouse at the rear.

3. Bell, High Street [21:00]

Beers: Charrington IPA

Comments: Old Coaching Inn with interesting collection of jugs.

4. Crown Inn, High Street [22:00]

Beers: Trumans Best, Bitter

Comments: One bar pub with pool table

Just a short walk back to the station where there is a train back to Liverpool Street at 22:16 arriving back at 22:55. There are also trains at 23:08 and 23:39.

This trip was masterminded by Barbara Waby and typed by Dave Saffery (you now know who to blame).
