On leaving Oxford Street tube walk East along Oxford Street until you reach Great Portland Street. Turn left and walk down Great Portland Street until you find the first pub ....

Leaving times in { }

1. Cock Tavern [WLBG 3/6] 27 Great Portland Street {18:30}
Beers: Samuel Smith OBB.

Pub opened in 1904 with four large lanterns outside. The present ones are not the originals, but Samuel Smith replicated them in the eighties. It is rather busy at this time, but the decor is quite pleasant.

Turn right down Great Portland Street and walk until you reach Eastcastle Street where you turn left and at the end of the Street you will find the next ...

2. Rose and Crown [WLBG 3/22] Eastcastle Street {19:15}
Beers: Samuel Smith OBB

Dark red walls with wood panelling and heavy green curtains give the interior a dim appearance. There are many wall lights trying to compensate for the gloomy decor. Food was available, on the trial, in an upstairs bar. Dart board.

On leaving the pub turn left up Newman Street until you reach Newman Place where you turn right. At the end of Newman Place is the next ....

3. Newman Arms [WLBG 3/18] Rathbone Street {20:00}
Beers: Fullers London Pride, Hancocks HB, Bass.

Small ground floor bar with an Egon Rony recommended restaurant upstairs. Wood panelling on the walls and on the low ceiling gives a feeling of being below decks on a liner. There is a galleon in a glass box to the left of the bar counter. There is a pleasant atmosphere.

Turn right down Rathbone Street and a short way down is the next pub ...

4. Marquis of Granby [WLBG 3/17] Rathbone Street {20:30}
Beer: Fullers London Pride.

Popular U-shaped bar with very large windows and old adverts framed on the walls. There is a restaurant upstairs, but I am not sure if it is open in the evening.

In front of the pub is the start of Rathbone Place were you will find the next pub ..

5. Wheatsheaf [WLBG 3/27] Rathbone Place {21:15}
Beer: Youngs Special, Marsden Pedigree, Theakston Best Bitter.

Sixties style single bar pub which is long, narrow and opens out to a drinking area at the rear.

6. Blue Posts [WLBG 3/2] Tottenham Court Road {22:00}
Beer: Bass

Single bar pub with long narrow bar, fairly spartan interior with a few national flags scattered about the ceiling. Load music and a TV.

Tottenham Court Road tube station is the nearest station.
